What it covers

UK medicine, graduate-entry medicine and dentistry courses that publish a UCAT figure: 235 published figures from 16 schools, 2014 to 2026 entry, plus minimums Edinburgh, Keele and Sunderland have already published for 2027 entry. The calculator compares your total with 2026-entry figures (set on the 2025 test) and 2027-entry rules. Home, Scottish and overseas fee groups and contextual routes are kept apart.

Method

  1. We transcribed each school's own figure with its course, fee group, route and meaning. An interview cut-off (the lowest score invited), a minimum (below it you are not considered), and the lowest score a school happened to interview are different things, so they sit in separate groups and are never merged.
  2. Where a school publishes a contextual or widening-access figure (Manchester WP+, Access UCL, Imperial contextual, Anglia Ruskin WAMS) and you choose that route, we use it; otherwise the standard figure. Brighton and Sussex's line depends on SJT band, so your band picks the row.
  3. SJT band exclusions come from the schools' published 2027 rules, the same data as our SJT band checker. A band a school rules out is shown as ruled out whatever the score.
  4. The 2027 estimate: we find the national percentile each 2026 cut-off sat at in the 2025 results, then read off the score at that percentile in our forecast of the final 2026 deciles. Early 2026 scores ran higher than early 2025 scores, so most lines move up about 25 to 35 points.
  5. Sunderland's rule is 'top 8 deciles', so we compare your score with the 20th percentile boundary: 1750 in UCAT's preliminary 2026 table, about 1700 in our final estimate.

Uncertainty and limits

  • The same-percentile method was tested by predicting 12 cut-offs for 2026 entry from 2025 entry at Queen Mary, Manchester and Sheffield. It missed by 64 points on average and by 228 at worst. That was one year, with a scale change, and the rows are not independent.
  • Cut-offs move with each year's applicants and places, not only with national scores. Treat the 2027 figure as a scenario, not a prediction.
  • Imperial's overseas figure was read from a search extract of its FOI answers; the PDF link is no longer live.
  • A lowest score interviewed at a school that weighs grades and context (Aberdeen, St Andrews) is one applicant's score, not a line anyone above it cleared.

What the answer means

The answer says which published lines your score would have cleared last year, and which current rules it meets. It is not a chance of interview or offer. Schools also rank on GCSEs, predicted grades, personal statements, SJT and their own contextual rules, and most schools publish no figure at all.

Schools that say they use no fixed cut-off

  • Aston: Says it uses no lower cognitive or SJT cut-off.
  • Brunel: Ranks UCAT scores with no fixed cut-off set in advance; SJT Band 4 is excluded.
  • Cambridge: States no minimum UCAT threshold.
  • East Anglia: Ranks on the cognitive score; says there is no fixed cut-off.
  • Leeds: Uses UCAT in a points score; no fixed cut-off for medicine or dentistry.
  • Lancashire: Threshold depends on the cohort and is not known in advance.
  • Nottingham: Scores each section in points; does not share past interview thresholds.
  • Oxford: No single cut-off; it publishes interview and offer counts by score instead.

Most other UCAT schools publish no score we could verify. That is not the same as having no threshold; ask the school.

Questions people ask

What UCAT score do I need for medicine?

There is no single score. For 2026 entry, published interview cut-offs for home medicine applicants ran from 2000 at Brighton and Sussex (SJT Band 2 or 3) and 2030 at Queen Mary to 2190 at UCL, 2240 at Bristol and 2320 at Imperial. Several schools, including Cambridge, Leeds and Aston, say they use no fixed cut-off.

Will UCAT cut-offs go up for 2027 entry?

Probably a little. Candidates who sat by 13 September 2026 averaged 1970, against 1939 for the same point in 2025. If each school's line keeps its national percentile, most 2027 lines sit about 25 to 35 points higher. Schools set cut-offs by their own applicants, so this is a scenario, not a forecast.

Is a UCAT cut-off the same as a minimum score?

No. Queen Mary's 2026 minimum was 1761, but its home medicine interview cut-off was 2030. A minimum is the score below which you are not considered; the cut-off is the lowest score that actually got an interview.

What UCAT minimums are already published for 2027 entry?

Edinburgh will not consider scores below 1850 (except Plus Flag applicants). Keele needs 1700 for home and 1950 for international applicants. Sunderland needs a score in the top 8 deciles. All three rule out SJT Band 4.

Which medical schools have no UCAT cut-off?

Cambridge, Aston, Brunel, East Anglia, Leeds and Lancashire say they set no fixed cut-off in advance, and Nottingham and Oxford score UCAT inside wider systems. No fixed cut-off still means a lower score ranks lower.
