Method
- Each cognitive section scores 10 points at 801 to 900, 8 at 701 to 800, 6 at 601 to 700, 4 at 501 to 600, 2 at 401 to 500 and 0 under 400. Verbal Reasoning counts double, for 40 points in all.
- SJT Band 1 scores 10, Band 2 6 and Band 3 2. Band 4 is not considered for interview.
- GCSEs score 4 for a 9 or A*, 3 for an 8, 2 for a 7 or A and 1 for a 6 or B, over eight subjects: Biology or Human Biology, Chemistry or Double Science, Maths, English Language and your four best others.
- The tool reproduces both of Nottingham's worked examples: VR 680, QR 500, DM 580 and Band 2 give 24 of 50, and five 8s, two 7s and a 6 give 20 GCSE points.
Uncertainty and limits
- Nottingham's table jumps from 'under 400' to '401 to 500', so a section score of exactly 400 has no published value. We say so rather than guess.
