How long should I study for the UCAT?

UCAT does not set a number. The plan fits the stages into the days you have: with under six weeks, timed sets start straight away.

How many UCAT mocks should I do?

This plan sets one a week from six weeks out and two a week from three weeks out, plus a baseline if you have none. The review after each mock matters as much as the mock.

What pace does the UCAT need?

In 2026 Verbal Reasoning allows 22 minutes for 44 questions, Decision Making 37 minutes for 35, Quantitative Reasoning 26 minutes for 36 and Situational Judgement 26 minutes for 69.

Method

  1. Study days are the weekdays you tick, from today (or your start date) to the day before your test.
  2. The plan runs in four stages, which are our planning choices: untimed methods, timed sets from six weeks before the test, two full mocks a week from three weeks before, and a final week of error-log review with one mock at least four days before the test.
  3. Without a mock score, day one is a baseline mock. The day after every mock is its review.
  4. Sections share the other days in proportion to need. A section's weight rises by 0.75 for every standard deviation its score sits below the 2025 UCAT mean, within limits, and by 0.5 for each error type you pick for it. Days rotate between sections so no section waits a week.
  5. Timed sets run at the real pace from UCAT's 2026 timings: 30 seconds a question in Verbal Reasoning, about 63 in Decision Making, about 43 in Quantitative Reasoning and about 23 in Situational Judgement, with half the session left for review.

  • The stages and weights are planning choices, not findings about how much practice a score needs.
  • The 2025 section averages are the latest final UCAT figures; 2026's averages were preliminary when this page was checked.

What the answer means

The plan tells you what to do on each study day and when to sit full mocks. It cannot predict your score, and it assumes the standard test; with extra time, set the pace from your own timing.
