Which medical schools set a UCAT minimum for 2027 entry?

Keele (1,700 home, 1,950 international), Sheffield (1,800) and Edinburgh (1,850) publish totals. City St George's and St Mary's ask for 500 in each section. Queen Mary sets the fourth decile and Sunderland the top eight deciles.

Which medical schools do not consider SJT Band 4?

Many, including Anglia Ruskin, Brighton and Sussex, Hull York, Keele, Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham, Queen Mary and Sunderland. Manchester also rules out Band 3. Others, such as UCL and Queen's Belfast, use the SJT only to break ties.

Which medical schools take only UK or only international applicants for 2027?

St Mary's, Greater Manchester and Hertfordshire take international applicants only for 2027 entry. Anglia Ruskin, Bangor, Edge Hill, Lincoln and Sunderland take UK applicants only. Every other school here takes both.

Is a past cut-off the line for this year?

No. A past line is the score that got an interview in an earlier cycle. It moves with the number and strength of applicants, so treat it as context.

Which medical schools do not need the UCAT?

Buckingham does not use UCAT for standard-entry medicine. Greater Manchester sets no test for 2027 entry but takes international applicants only that year, and asks for UCAT from 2028 entry. Lancashire's international applicants apply without it.

Method

  1. Each school's UCAT method, 2027 minimum and newest past line come from our 2027 UCAT policy ledger, which cites the school's own page and the day it was read.
  2. A published 2027 minimum is checked against your total for your fee status. City St George's and St Mary's need 500 in each section, so a total under 1,500 cannot meet it and section scores settle the rest.
  3. Queen Mary and Sunderland set decile floors. Until UCAT publishes the final 2026 deciles we compare with the preliminary table and say so; a total below the preliminary line is a check, not a fail.
  4. The SJT band is checked against each school's published 2027 rule for your fee status. A rule published only for an earlier cycle is a check.
  5. A-level and GCSE rules are checked clause by clause exactly as in our medicine requirements checker.
  6. A course open only to international applicants for 2027 (St Mary's, Greater Manchester, Hertfordshire) or only to UK applicants (Anglia Ruskin, Bangor, Edge Hill, Lincoln, Sunderland) rules out the other group, as each Medical Schools Council 2027 profile states.
  7. A school is met only when every published rule is settled in your favour. Past lines are shown with their year and meaning and never change a verdict.

Uncertainty and limits

  • Schools that rank on UCAT set their line after the cycle, so a school can be met here and still invite no one at your score.
  • Past lines are one year's result and move with each year's applicants and places.
  • Contextual and widening-access routes change several rules. With that flag on, a total under a minimum is a check instead of a fail.
