UCAT SJT importance questions
Rate how much one consideration should matter when deciding what to do, on a four-point scale.
How to spot it
- How important are each of the following considerations ...?
Try one
Original example
Amira, a dental student, has agreed to present her group's project at 9am tomorrow. At 10pm she realises the slides contain a chart copied from a website without any credit.
How important is this consideration for Amira in deciding what to do? That the presentation should not pass off someone else's work as the group's own.
The method
- Ask whether it affects safety, honesty or fairness to others.
- Personal convenience matters a little, not a lot.
- Something unrelated to the decision is not important at all.
The trap
Watch forRating a personal cost as important because it would matter to you, when it should not drive the decision.
Now a harder one
Harder
Amira, a dental student, has agreed to present her group's project at 9am tomorrow. At 10pm she realises the slides contain a chart copied from a website without any credit. Adding the credit and checking the other slides would take about twenty minutes.
How important is this consideration for Amira in deciding what to do? That fixing the slides tonight will mean she goes to bed twenty minutes later than she planned.
