What is a good UCAT score?
A good UK UCAT score depends on your course and cohort. The published 80th-percentile cut point was 2100 in the final 2025 results and 2190 in the preliminary 2026 figures through 13 September. Final 2026 statistics were not yet published on 24 September. Neither number guarantees an interview; check the course policy and keep SJT separate. Official 2026 statistics (accessed 2026-09-24).
Read a score against the right year

These are historical cohort statistics from the official 2025 table, not 2026 or 2027 thresholds. A percentile describes a position in a tested cohort, not the percentage of questions correct or the chance of admission.
Current cognitive totals run from 900 to 2700; SJT is reported separately. Pre-2025 totals included Abstract Reasoning and are not directly comparable. Do not multiply an old total by three quarters.

Worked example Interpret a total
Original teaching example. Isha's reported section scores are 680, 700 and 730, with SJT Band 2. What can she conclude from the 2025 table?
Why this works: 680 + 700 + 730 = 2110. This is between the published 2025 80th- and 90th-percentile cut points. Band 2 stays separate. The table alone cannot identify her exact percentile or admissions outcome.
Why the tempting route fails: Calling 2110 exactly the 81st percentile interpolates a distribution we have not established. Adding the SJT band to the total mixes different measures.
What about UCAT scores in 2026?
As checked on 24 September 2026, the official UK page labels its figures preliminary, covering tests through 13 September. Final 2026 statistics are not yet published on that page. The preliminary mean is 1970; the published 50th-, 80th- and 90th-percentile cut points are 1980, 2190 and 2300. These are not final 2026 thresholds or 2027 predictions.
The same total can occupy different positions in different cohorts. For example, 2100 is the final 2025 80th-percentile cut point but lies between the preliminary 2026 60th and 70th cut points, 2040 and 2110. Do not interpolate an exact percentile from those brackets. SJT remains separate.
Turn the number into a next step
- Write down your test year and whether the result is official or a practice estimate.
- For each course, record its entry year, academic requirements and SJT policy.
- Choose one repeated reasoning error to repair before doing another timed set.
Use final 2025 data for historical context and the explicitly labelled 2026 preliminary figures for a provisional comparison. Neither forecasts future cut-offs.
