UCAT raw score to scaled score: can you convert a mock?
There is no universal official formula that turns a raw UCAT practice mark into a scaled result. UCAT converts raw marks to scaled scores for the live test, but its official practice tests do not provide a scaled score. Use practice accuracy to diagnose errors, not to manufacture an exact percentile.
Keep three measurements separate

UCAT's scoring page explains that raw scores are converted because subtests have different numbers of questions. It does not supply a universal linear formula. A provider estimate should identify its method and practice form; do not assume estimates from different providers are interchangeable.
Compare practice without fake scaling
Worked example Two small QR sets
Original teaching example. On an original ten-question set, a learner answers eight correctly in twelve minutes. On a different ten-question set, they answer seven correctly in eight minutes. Has their official UCAT score increased?
Why this works: That cannot be established. Observed accuracy fell from 80% to 70%, while time fell by four minutes. The sets may differ in difficulty. Review the misses and compare further practice under similar conditions before judging the change.
Why the tempting route fails: The formula 300 + 600 × accuracy would invent scaled results of 780 and 720. It is not an official UCAT conversion, and the faster time does not validate it.
Keep a record that helps the next attempt
- Name the set and whether this was a first attempt.
- Record time, marks and the reasoning behind each miss.
- Distinguish an unanswered item from a wrong answer reached confidently.
- Repeat the skill with a fresh item before interpreting a higher repeat score.
A repeated set can show that you understood feedback, but memory of its answers changes what the score measures. No practice log here predicts admission or supplies a calibrated live-test estimate.
