- We read each school's profile and record what its contextual route changes: a lower grade offer, a UCAT uplift or lower threshold, extra points at shortlisting, interview support, a separate course, or context considered without a set change.
- We record which circumstances each profile names, such as free school meals, care experience, postcode measures, school performance, first in family, household income or a widening-access programme.
- If you tick circumstances, a school that names one of them is listed first. A school whose profile describes its criteria only in general terms is listed next, because you may still qualify.
- Your answers are never stored, shared or sent. The share link carries only the list view.
Uncertainty and limits
- Profiles were checked on 27 September 2026. Schools often define criteria more tightly on their own pages (postcode tools, school lists, evidence).
- A school with no scheme in its profile may still have one; we say 'none recorded', not 'none'.

Questions people ask
Which medical schools give lower offers to contextual applicants?
Several profiles name a lower grade offer for eligible applicants, for example AAB at UCL, Birmingham, Plymouth, Southampton and Sunderland, and ABB at Bristol and Anglia Ruskin. Criteria differ by school.
Do I have to apply for a contextual offer?
It depends on the school. Some profiles describe schemes that use your UCAS details and school or postcode data; others need you to complete a widening-access programme or apply to a separate gateway course. Read each school's policy.
Does Cambridge give contextual offers for medicine?
Its Medical Schools Council profile names no contextual scheme for medicine. Check Cambridge's own admissions pages for how it uses contextual data.
Is a UCAT uplift the same as a lower offer?
No. An uplift raises your UCAT score or lowers the threshold at shortlisting; a lower offer changes the A-level grades you need. Some schools do one, some both.
