Aberdeen sets no minimum for dentistry and publishes averages instead, so its figures are not lines. Plymouth fixes no threshold in advance.

Read the lines before you apply

  • A minimum only means you are considered. The interview lines at those schools were higher: Queen Mary's minimum was 1,761 but its home medicine line was 2,030.
  • The 2026-entry lines were set on the 2025 test. In 2026 the middle score was 1,920, against 1,880 in 2025, so a line can rise.
  • Most schools also rank on grades, a personal statement or an interview score, so a score above a line is not a place.
  • SJT Band 4 rules you out at Keele, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Brighton and Sussex and Anglia Ruskin.

Every school's UCAT policy: how universities use UCAT

Questions people ask

Which universities accept low UCAT scores for medicine?

On their own published figures for 2026 entry, St Andrews (from 1,500 for Scottish home-funded applicants, 1,640 for UK domicile) and Aberdeen (from 1,700 Scottish, 1,720 rest of UK). For 2027 entry Keele considers home applicants from 1,700, and Sunderland those in the top 8 deciles of the 2026 test.

Which universities accept low UCAT scores for dentistry?

Aberdeen uses no minimum for dentistry: Scottish applicants it invited averaged 1,900 for 2026 entry. Bristol's overseas line was 1,970. Manchester's line was 2,200, or 2,100 for widening participation applicants.

Can I get into medicine with a UCAT of 1,800?

Several schools would consider you: Keele (home applicants, 1,700), Sunderland (home applicants in the top 8 deciles), Queen Mary (1,761 minimum) and Sheffield (1,800 minimum). St Andrews and Aberdeen interviewed applicants below 1,800 for 2026 entry.

Is a low UCAT the end of my application?

No. Choose schools whose published lines you clear, and apply where the UCAT counts for less. Then make the rest of the application strong.
